Bloomington Golden K

Bloomington Golden K was chartered on March 4, 1985 with 26 members. Today we have approximately 55 members, both men and women, most of whom are retired.

Seldom do we have fewer than 40 members in attendance at our weekly meetings. Learn about meetings here.

Members generally agree that fellowship, fun, interesting programs, and rewarding community service projects are the major reasons they like to participate in the club.

Golden K Kiwanis clubs exist in many U.S. cities.

Kiwanis International

Kiwanis International was founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan, and became an international organization with the creation of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, Ontario, the following year.

In the early years, members focused on business networking but in 1919, the organization changed its focus to service. In the 1960s, worldwide expansion was
approved and within the decade, Kiwanis International-Europe was formed, representing Kiwanians in 11 European nations.

Today, Kiwanis International has more than 550,000 members from K-Kids to Key Club to Kiwanis in 80 countries and geographic areas.

In 1987, women officially were allowed into the membership, much overdue.
